Stitched - Back Stitch Sampler

Here is the second finished sampler, this one exploring the back stitch. I chose to work it in a colour scheme of early spring and, like with the blanket stitch sampler which I posted last week, I stitched on Zweigart 27 count Meran fabric. The threads I used are stranded cotton and stranded silk, silk twist and some slightly slubbed silk yarn - I really like the earthy, organic quality. Initially I was concerned that a stitch as simple as the back stitch would not make for an interesting sampler and that I might struggle to find variations, but I quickly proved myself wrong. It does help having a good range of threads to stitch with - the beautiful silk threads are from Belladonna Creative Arts!
